Gimp Not Working With Drawing Tablet
I just recently got a VT PenPad Tablet so installed the drivers and all of that and went on to gimp. I made sure that gimp "saw" the tablet and in edit>input devices and made sure my tablet was on the setting "screen" instead of "disabled". I tried drawing with my tablet, but moving my pen just moved the layer around. I played around with my tablet settings and made sure the pressure was working. Then I set the tablet back to disabled and drew. The tablet worked as a mouse and could draw but wouldn't show pressure opacity (line fading in and out). Please help.
And yes I did check to make sure that the brushes were set to Pressure Opacity. |

RE: Gimp Not Working With Drawing Tablet
To assist us assist you, can you post your OS and Gimp version.
Some things to also try while you are waiting for a response... Have you tried the tablet with another drawing application to eliminate that it is not just a Gimp issue? Have you tried starting Gimp by using the tablet's Pen? |

And use the latest gimp version (I downloaded gimp about two weeks ago). I've used Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop. They both worked perfectly fine. I also have tried opening gimp using the tablet's pen ![]() |

RE: Gimp Not Working With Drawing Tablet
Oh sorry I forgot to mention that I could use the pen to click on stuff inside gimp, but I couldn't draw with it. I tried switching brushes and all that but for some reason it kept moving the layer.

QUICK UPDATE(for now): I did a little digging and found 2 solutions online - Read the first 3 or 4 posts here (this user has the same exact problem) http://gug.criticalhit.dk/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=91 2nd Try the minimize method mentioned in this answer https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index...959AAVD7Te Comment/reply back asap if none of the above work to bring attention to this thread. I'll also post the first solution in that other user I was helping. |

I tried minimizing the window and opening it back up again still just moves the layers. Uninstalled tablet drivers still nothing Read this: https://www.flickr.com/groups/gimpusers/...432533337/ and tried the second suggestion and it still didn't work I'm going to install Gimp on another computer and see if it's just my laptop. I noticed that most of the people who are having this problem have cheap tablets (like mine) so maybe that's why it isn't very compatible with gimp- because it's not a well known tablet? I don't know. But until I find a solution I'm going to keep my tablet on disabled and just have ugly looking drawings ![]() MY TABLET: VisTablet PenPad 7inch |

RE: Gimp Not Working With Drawing Tablet
Apparently this person has the same exact problem as me with the same company which made the tablet so I'm going to try to uninstall gimp and reinstall it like it says here: http://gimpforums.com/thread-vistablet-sensitivity
