You cannot really drop dockable dialogs here - please help!
I hate to start off on a complaint, but I just installed 2.8, and so far it is quite terrible!

To begin with, I have been using GIMP for the past 5 years, and I am used to a toolbox which consists of two non-detachable elements: there is a panel of tools to select, and beneath this panel is space for each of these tools options. A tool panel without options isn't very useful, which is all the better reason for keeping them inseparable in a single box.

As it happened, 2.8 began with the tool options firmly anchored to the box for the Tool selector panel (Toolbox). In 2.6, if the Toolbox got closed, you could restore it exactly as it appeared before through Windows->Dockable Dialogs. In 2.8, you can get a toolbox again, but you never, ever see your tool options again! You get instead, under the Tool selection panel, amid much empty space, this message: "You can drop dockable dialogs here". It does happen that I can get my tool options back again, but it has to be in a separate window, increasing the total number of necessary windows for any serious project from three to four windows if it includes a box for Layers. I did try to dock that Tool Options bubble-window to my left-hand dialog box where it should always be displayed, and yes I did explore that small, grey button which includes "Lock Tab to Dock" - this did not work. At no point when moving the Tool Options window over that empty space in my toolbox do I see anything change underneath, nor anything which hints at the possibility of ever anchoring it there, as it was originally. I'm not very happy with having to manage four, not just three windows when I want to get something done with GIMP, nor am I particularly impressed with how GIMP 2.8 creates so much wasteful empty space with a promise which it leaves unfulfilled. Please explain if there is a fix for this!
