Working with Flare and lighting
This is my first attempt at working with flare and lighting to make a glowing orb. The lady is actually holding a ball that I added nova and gradients to. I adjusted the lighting to both the lady and the stonehendge image to try and get a dark etheral feel.

I have along ways to go to this but thought I would share this so I can feedback. My goal is to beable to create my own landscapes for this type of imagery. Any thoughts on that?

I will add that both original images I downloaded from Devianart.

J.

Well, I quite like the surreal of it. Smile

But the lighting is kinda uniform, it doesn't emphasize the lady's light coming from the ball so any focal point gets somewhat lost(also the lens flare is a nice touch but everything looks similar brightness so the effect isn't as pronounced.)

Idea My feedback/suggestions Idea
just some optional ideas to further enhance the light-balance:
You can add a radial blend mask(layer mode: subtract) to the background to enhance the light around it.

Also, if you want to add some depth or more atmosphere, maybe throw in some ground fog/clouds

here's a quick sample I threw together using 5 extra layers:
=name= *denotes layer mode used

-\foreground\ cloud light-glow =grain merge/other, forgot=
- cloud \foreground\ =lighten only=
- lady (contrast-sharpened)
-cloud \behind lady layer\ =lighten only=
-transparent layer, w/ radial blend to focus light more =subtract=
-Original image \bottom layer\ \background\

Take my example with a grain of salt though, its what your image has the potential to be.

What you can concentrate on is the light source balance & how you play around with it (experiment) the rest is extra(glowing, cloud/fogs)

great work so far though! I also like the colors, they are dark colors

cheers and have fun!
