(Jul 14, 2011 17:56)ofnuts Wrote:  You can download installers for the Gimp help in several languages from there:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-win...taller%29/

This installs the contextual help (Help button in dialogs) but this also works as general documentation that you can browse with a navigator (index.html at top of hierarchy).
Once again, Thanks very much **Ofnuts** Smile u little wizzard u Smile

I just installed it as the installer itself suggests, wich is C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0

I got just 3 screens the startup wich says what it's going to install and then I can slect the path in the second one and the last windows says the installation was succesfull and that's it Sad

This is a recurring theme on several forums, and the frequent answer is "well it is working here". Not much help.

The only thing is as Ofnuts said, make sure it is installed in the correct place.

going back to the OP

Should not be using gimp-help 2.4 with gimp 2.6.x - the directory structure is a little different but here is a screenshot of 'help 2.6'. "en" will change depending on language.

Things to try, as the above screenshot, see if it opens manually. Right click on index.html and see if it works.

Just a theory of mine but I think the problem might be some other application blocking gimp-help. As the above screenshot, Avast flags it launching, so a less transparent anti-malware app might stop it without any warning.

Some other info.
If using F1 to try and bring up gimp-help, have an image open, even a blank one, or you can press F1 until you are blue-in-the-face.
You can unpack the gimp-help-installer manually using uniextractor. Useful if using a portable gimp.
The installer adds a lot of files, currently 2065, to the help folder, but no registry entries or other files.

I can't see how you do not have the index.html file, unless something has removed it.

Only thing I can suggest is go get 'universal extractor' from

http://www.lupopensuite.com/db/universalextractor.htm

Pop the gimp-help installer into a temporary folder. Use universal extractor to unpack the help file and you get something like this.

Check that it works. Then copy the whole of the 'nl' bit to gimp help folder.

Otherwise don't know.

It works!! THNX Big Grin

GIMP still says something like standard webbrowser not installed but one click or hitting the enter button and I am at the destinationpage.
I use Google Chrome, is it possible that has something to do with it?
