window blinds effect
I have an image that I would like to make look as if someone were seeing it by looking through window blinds. I've seen this effect before but am having trouble doing it.

While in the image I went to Filters > Distort > Blinds and chose a transparent background. I then created another layer and filled it with black and pulled this layer under the image. This somewhat works but I need the transition between the image and the black to feather, like this it is a hard edged line. Any thoughts on how I can accomplish this?

RE: window blinds effect
Try the other way:

- add a black layer on top
- apply the "blinds" filter to it
- apply a gaussian blur, about 1/3 of the blades width.

Should be what you are trying to do.

Added points: a true "blind" effect has a wider blind spacing in the middle (and thinner blades), so you can try to geometrically distort the blind layer first.
