Which separate+ settings should I use?
I'm getting some buttons (pins) printed and they specified CMYK only, so I installed the separate+ plugin. I realize that for photographic work I should calibrate my workspace, but this is a simple non-critical graphic and I was hoping to avoid more work at this time. (later) The image is a simple combination of black and red type with a light background colour, so I don't mind a little variation in the result.

I set the source color space to "ECI-RGB.icc" and the destination color space to "ISO Coated". Then the part that I was really wondering about is the "rendering intent" which I set to (I think it was the default) "Perceptual". It also asks if I want to make a "CMYK pseudo composite" which I ignored.

Am I on the right track?

RE: Which separate+ settings should I use?
Part of my problem is that I am not yet fluent in Gimp and some things which might be obvious to someone more advanced, because the know they vocabulary, are not to me.

Anyway, I think I have it figured out. This is hopefully the way to get to a file which a printer might accept.

1. open file.xcf
2. convert to file.jpg
3. open file.jpg
4. Image -> Separate -> Separate
5. Only pick the following:
   a. choose source colour space
   b. choose destination colour space
   c. choose "perceptual" Rendering intent
   d. check "Use BPC algorithm"
   e. check "Preserve pure black"
   f. click OK to save file
6. In the new window click:
   a. Image -> Separate -> Export
   b. Save file with the file-CMYK.tif name
