You have to download the Brushes and open in them in Windows Rar or 7zip or some other Compressed file reader, then you extract them to your C:>Program Files>GIMP-2.6>Share>GIMP>2.0>Brushes folder
Hope this helps

willy...I have downloaded many GIMP brushes from http://www.deviantart.com and the address you provided above. But I'm facing a problem with these brushes. most of the brushes are too large (some of them are 2600X1860). So if u tell me how to use these brushes in medium size photos, it would be great for me.Actually I want to know the process of reducing brush sizes or any other process by which I can use all of my brushes to the perfection.

Just open the brush out of the .gimp directory, reduce the size, and save Smile Also, you can reduce the size before use.

thanks a lot....but i want to know more about the uses of brushes. when i use these brushes they often appear as white color in picture. My query is that how can i actually use different colors or at least few colors instead of white one in my picture??

RE: Wheres a good place to get Brushes?
You need to be sure, when saving brushes, that you save them properly. When you save them in greyscale mode, shades of black will provide you shades of the color selected in your drawing tool. If you save them as RGB, you will not be able to change the color. So, if you want a specific multi color brush, you should design it by opening your brush from .gimp/brushes and then editing it appropriately and saving it.

Or have I missed the point of your last comment?
