Question Very strange problem, mouse wont input HELP
I'm very new to gimp and usually only use it for basic editing, but i encountered an issue. Gimp will start up fine, but in a minute or so, the mouse input will cease to work. I can still press the buttons with tab and enter, but the process of doing so is annoying and sometimes impossible. I have attempted to delete the gimp folder and re-installing, but have had no success. i am on gimp 2.8.10 and using a toshiba laptop with windows 7. If you have a question or a solution i intend to monitor this post closely. Thanks!

I only use spybot and windows firewall, and i can't find a rule in my firewall against gimp, or can i seem to find a way to disable spybot. Do you know if these would interfere?

RE: Very strange problem, mouse wont input HELP
Is it just the mouse cursor that disappears, or does the entire mouse disable functionality when this happens? If you don't have GIMP full screen, does the mouse appear when you leave the GIMP window area, or does the mouse cease to work all together regardless of which program you jump in and out of once it happens? Lastly, when you close GIMP, does the mouse restore itself or is it gone for good?

the mouse is still visible, and the problem only carries over in gimp. the mouse works fine before and after gimp startup, and when tabbed away from gimp. it just wont respond to my clicks

RE: Very strange problem, mouse wont input HELP
I see you are using a laptop.
When you refer to 'mouse' to you mean the 'touchpad' or do you have another secondary mouse plugged in?
Can you attach a screenshot from within Gimp of both your
1. Edit->Input Devices screens and
2. Edit->Preferences when the Preferences dialog appears Input Devices->Input Controllers screen.

Thanks.
Two things to test...
1. Does the same behaviour exist when you disconnect the secondary mouse and just use the touchpad?
2. In the Input Devices screen above, try experimenting with the 'Mode' dropdown options, Saving those changes between each test.

If still no luck, show me what settings you have selected under Control Panel->Mouse for your external mouse device.
