Version of Gap?
I'm wondering if there's a version of Gap, the animation plugin, that can run with 2.8.2.

I've been having a look around and from what I can tell it seems that the old version of Gap might not work as it insists on install in a folder for 2.6. Is there anyway around this, or is there a more recent version that I can download? I've got a copy of Gap in my downloads folder - I had it installed when I used 2.6 - but am a bit hesitant to install it as the version of 2.8 that I've got is more or less stable.

Thanks.

No replies?

I am neither an animation maker nor a GAP user but a quick experiment with winXP and gimp 2.8.2 and GAP does install. Shows up in the gimp menu as expected 'video'

I used the one from photocomix, seem to be the most recent 'tweak'

As stated it is for gimp 2.6 so on installation, you need to browse for the correct folder. I checked the installation and it is very clean, lots of files but only 2 reg entries.

You have already used it, so you know that GAP on its own is a big package, there are other resources in that download, all of them are installed just by copying to a relevent folder, nothing complicated.

A quick test and I don't know if it is worth the effort, very picky about layer names, I could not get it to render a video properly but that might be my lack of knowledge. It did crash a couple of times over layer format, wanted 'xcf' in the name.

Gimp on its own will make an animation, and you can convert to video by other methods. Bottom line - depends what you want to do.

RE: Version of Gap?
Thanks for the info. I've downloaded the file from photocomix and will install it as per your instructions.

I've done some basic animation with gimp but I seem to be forever duplicating layers and merging them down. It can get a bit tiresome so I was hoping Gap can take away some of the duplication work.
I'm not out to do anything fancy just want to experiment more than anything else.
