Variables from bash into GIMP text
I want to have a text layer update on an image template I made, and then export the image.

Is it possible to update text layers in GIMP using environment variables from bash?

Thanks

The script experts, hopefully, will be along soon.

My first thought was 'why gimp' If the base image is a template and the text is in a file then ImageMagick will superimpose the text.

something along the lines of

Code:
#!/bin/bash
#
# $1 is the image file
# $2 is the text file
# $3 is the out.file
convert $1 -fill white -box black -gravity North -pointsize 40 -annotate +0+5 @$2 $3

throws up a couple of warnings but works.

I guess Imagemagick is worth a try, but this image should give you an idea of what I'm doing. I hate having to change the text by hand every morning at 8AM Wink

(I dont think my adding the image is working):http://brianmagiweatheruncc.dreamhosters.com/week.png

Ouch. week.png is going to take a bit of setting up.

Best ask on the IM forum. http://www.imagemagick.org/discourse-server/ the users section
