Use you navigator (Firefox, Chrome or even IE), and open the file in it directly from your disk (File/Open...). Does it play?

If that's OK, then download back the file from tumblr, is it identical to your original file?

So, did you perform the tests above? Can you give us the URL of the image on tumblr? Have you also put the image on some image server?

yes. it works just fine when i file/open but when i downloaded it back from tumblr and opened it i just got a little red x. i tried putting it on imgur but i had to make it really small before it would work. here's what it looks like when i upload it to tumblr:

RE: uploading problems with already made gif
For Firefox your image on tumblr is a Jpeg. It is not uncommon for web sites to massage the image files trusted to them, especially if they look big (an animated GIF of this size should have been several megabytes...).

I assume you forced the name back to .GIF when downloading, and your image viewing utility is putting to much faith in the file extension and not enough in the contents, so decoding a JPEG file against the GIF standard does not get it very far, hence the red cross.

Also, just wondering why on earth one could think it could be a Gimp problem Smile
