unintended straight lines coming off of drawn lines
For some reason, GIMP is putting straight lines off of any line I draw (paintbrush, ink or pencil) and while it's pretty cool, I'd like to be able to draw properly. Anyone had this problem and know the solution?

Can you post a screen capture?

Weird. First time I see this. Has Gimp always been that way for you, or did it appear suddenly?

Btw, what version of Gimp are you using? Where did you find it/downloaded it from? And what is your operating system?

I downloaded it from the GIMP site, for Linux/Ubuntu. It's never done this before, and even after I've restarted my computer it keeps doing it.

So you had a version working correctly for some time?

The version for Ubuntu (2.6.8) is on the Ubuntu repository (what version of Ubuntu, by the way?). If you got it from the Gimp site, what version is it? Did you get a .DEB package or did you install from a tarball?

I may have gotten it off of the 11.10 software center. Should I just reinstall it?

RE: unintended straight lines coming off of drawn lines
Can't tell, still using Lucid (10.04). That's a strange bug, because it's fairly obvious so you would expect the canonical people to have seen it even with a short smoke test. Look more like a bug in the graphics support. Did it appear when you upgraded something?

If you reinstall, also disable your Gimp profile (~/.gimp-2.6) by renaming it.

You can also try to use the official Gimp version: rebuild from the tarball from ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v2.6/, or even build the 2.7.3 version from ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v2.7/ (these test versions are rather stable).

Thanks! I'll see if the reinstalled version works better.
