Two Separate jpgs - Want to Put One Image on the Other
Hi Everyone!

I'm a bit green with GIMP, and am faced with a small problem:

I have two jpg images in two separate windows. I want to put one of the jpgs onto the other...like layering it over a particular part of the other image. When I attempt to do this the image doesn't show up in the receiving window and disappears from the originating window. I also tried to do a regular copy and paste between open windows and that doesn't work either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Took me a focused read to figure it out. You can be envious of Gimp no more Smile

after placing/importing your images

"Image > Fit Canvas to layers..."

Then use the ( Crop ) crop tool when your done moving around the layers with the move tool ( Move )

@ Ofnuts. Does that work on your installation? Dragging layers in from one image to another has not worked since I think a 2.7 pre 2.8 compile.

Drag a layer, to a tab to switch focus, then into the canvas, nothing happens here.

I have choices.
Copy the layer and paste into the other image.
Go out of single window mode and drag from one image to the other works as Gimp 2.6
A PITA method, detaching the layers dock, unticking "auto follow active image".

@imgain
Copy then paste should work, You will get a floating selection that you have to anchor. Try one of the other paste options such as paste as a new layer. Don't expect to paste a larger image into a smaller and get away with it.

Yep, no problem in multi-window mode. Single window mode still broken here Gimp 2.8.10 & PCLOS
