Sad Trouble saving with transparency
I'm having trouble getting GIMP 2 to save some of my images with their transparency intact in .png format.

I've already performed the process of adding alpha layers and then removing the area I want to be transparent and then I've exported several images which have successfully retained their transparency.

I have three images, no different from any of the other twnty or so, that when I export them, do not retain ther transparency and instead fill in the entire background with white.

I've done other images before and since these three adn can't figure out why they're giving me trouble. can anyone help?

RE: Trouble saving with transparency
No good reason for this to happen. Can you post one of them here (at least the output, and if possible the XCF)?

RE: Trouble saving with transparency
The XCF isn't RGB but color-indexed, and when I save it as PNG it complains: "Couldn't losslessly save transparency, saving opacity instead.". Changing its mode back to RBG fixes the problem (and saves it with transparency). Is the indexed mode on purpose?

RE: Trouble saving with transparency
"Image/Mode/RGB". But going indexed has reduced the number of colors, so you may have a loss of quality (unless you started from a color-index image (GIF or PNG) but it's usually a bad idea to re-edit such images (especially if you re-save them in indexed format))(OMG I got lost in the levels of parentheses (which explains why I prefer Python to Scheme for Gimp scripts (private joke)))).
