Tracing an Image
Hi! I'm just 100% frustrated right now. Something I feel that should be simple to accomplish is giving me a headache.

I'm trying to trace an image I drew. Here are some details as to what I've been trying that isn't working.

1. I don't have a scanner, so I took a picture of the image and emailed it to myself and saved it to my desktop.
2. Opened a new document.
3. Opened the image to a new layer.
4. Opaqued the document to 50% so I could see the image underneath.
5. Used the Pathing tool to draw.

Problems I encountered.
A) The paths I drew would never turn solid. I edited them to be solid, they were always dashed.
B) The paths showed up in a separate tab that didn't seem like they were connected to the document.
C) I was then going to draw in some parts with the paintbrush, and I couldn't see my drawings. I tried hiding the main picture and keeping the paths in a separate layer. I fooled with the Opacity of both documents and only when there didn't appear to be a background did I see the drawing, but I wanted to see it against a white background.

I did look up a tutorial on youtube, but either they were using a different version, or their settings are different from the default because I couldn't follow the steps. What do I do. Please Help.
