Thumbnail Preview
Hi all,

I'm pretty new to all this, but when I had some images the other day, when I saw the preview it showed much more of the photo, then when I clicked to open it, it had cut half of the photo out.

How can you see the whole photo that the preview shows?

Thanks in advance

RE: Thumbnail Preview
Something like this?

As you see it works here so it might be an OS issue.

edit: It could be that the image files have been corrupted somehow between the time the thumbnails are created and when the image is opened in Gimp. Windows especially if you have opened images in win explorer.

edit again: I might be reading too much into the post.
Have you tried ctrl-j (also known as shrink-wrap) or shift-ctrl-j (fit image to window)

What operating system / 32/64 bit / version of Gimp

RE: Thumbnail Preview
Hi,

Yes like that preview, but for example when I open the image the blue car at the bottom would not be in the photo.

I have a Mac. Tried CRTL-J and CTRL-SHIFT-J to no avail.

RE: Thumbnail Preview
All my tiny thumbnails on the leftside of title appear as actual image.

RE: Thumbnail Preview
Barbie, I'm disappointed by your "can't let no one see what my name is" obfuscation skills. Surely you can do better than that? :P :P :P.

Well I am disappointed by your : P : P : P. skills... instead of an actual cute smiley image Tongue Tongue Tongue ! [Image: GIRLGIGGLE.gif]

● I did the "Obfuscation" in Windows Paint because it is quicker to open than Gimp. (I had already closed Gimp).
● Usually I use simple programs for annotation... not Gimp.
● I also have no painting skills. I just edit animated gifs and emoticons.

RE: Thumbnail Preview
Also, I have no painting skills, I just sell replicas of the Mona Lisa in a more appropriate format than that tiny thing.

This image you made looks awesome :).

Also, I never use icon image smileys, because they never express my precise feeling. It's on purpose, not by mistake. If I wanted for a smiley to properly express me (graphically) I would have to design them myself. Which I can't. So I don't use them, whenever I have the choice.

RE: Thumbnail Preview
That is a pretty despondent and defeated statement....

I was just writing on the GTK+ bugtrack. Bugzilla. About how despondent and defeated the people on the GTK+ forums are. It was about a bug in GTK2 AND GTK3 that has been around for at least 10 years. Or perhaps it was something else, some limitation that has been around for 10 years. Weird behaviour that takes hours upon hours to find out what is actually going on and in the end you can only really find out by checking the C source to e.g. pygtk. And the PyGTK documentation has just been ripped from the C documentation BUT not all the functions have been included which makes it impossible to divine what is actually going on.

And this guy who first reported the bug now mentions that PyGTK2 hasn't seen a new release in 2.5 years and is so full of bugs and security holes that he's stopped laughing for 3 weeks as he tried to build a workaround using pywin32.

In any case, how people misinterpret my words or feelings is not my responsibility, such thoughts represent a confounding and confusing of responsibilities. You don't have to worry about what other people do or say, worry only about your self. If other people are gonna hate on you, they will do so anyway regardless of what you do or don't do. It just becomes more visible if you become more visible. So if you take care to live a higher life and to more properly and more accurately express yourself, of course you will get a bit of headwind. But at least you are doing your part. Just because other people don't do theirs, doesn't mean you suddenly can't live your life the way you want to...

RE: Thumbnail Preview
Hi ChairCigar,

Did you check that you're not zoomed into the image or that its bigger than the screen?
-Look at the bottom left of the canvas for the %
- Try scrolling the image

With some images of high resolution, viewing at 100% won't show the whole pictures alot of times.
