Theme modified OK, but...
HI,
I adjusted the theme of my GIMP with a dark gray color.
All is OK and rather pleasant but a little problem bothers me : the color of the progress bar is too close to the color of the bottom.
So I can see the progress of the work, only by the shadow of the cursor.
I understood that this part of the theme is handled by GTK but I do not know where to intervene.
Any idea?

Thanks a lot,

Dan

RE: Theme modified OK, but...
Should be possible, Give a clue as to OS and where the theme came from.

Assuming Windoze.

This is a snip from Partha's version where the gtkrc file is a little more complicated than most.

#818181 is a lighter grey, use any value you want.
This goes in values for bg[PRELIGHT] and bg[SELECTED]

I edited this in notepad. Note the colour value (red box) is in quotes because here it is used as a HEX value. Next to it (blue box) is the original value which I commented out also with a # No quotes this time.

Always best to work on a renamed copy. No problem if the theme is in your '.\gimp-2.8\themes' folder

The full screenshot looks like this. http://i.imgur.com/p98jUib.jpg

As well as the progress bar, it does effect the properties sliders, I do not know any way around that.

RE: Theme modified OK, but...
Thanks a lot for your quick answer,

Unfortunately I don't have the same configuration as you and I don't find the lines you told me.

The basis of the theme I modified is "London Smoke" and it is stored in : " c:`\programmes\Gimp2\share\gimp\2.0\themes"

Inside "london Smoke", I've : "gtkrc" , "gtkrc_bkp.txt" , "menu.rc" and "panel.rc".

Nothing under "C:\user\me\gimp2.8\

I run with Win 7, 64 bits.
In dual boot, I've "Mint" and Gimp , but I never succed to modify the theme...

(I don't have experience with "Linux"...)

RE: Theme modified OK, but...
Same as before, look in the gtkrc file and change the values of bg[PRELIGHT] and bg[SELECTED] might not look the same but look.

Where did you find 'London Smoke', was it this one, http://i.imgur.com/GWmj8e7.jpg from thegimp.ca

If it is, would not touch anything there with a bargepole, bespoke downloaders, that install adware on your browser.

Sounds like you are not very confident about editing files, sometimes 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'

The image of London Smoke on the web site does not look like your screenshot and that was the only place I could find a reference. The download link there is broken.

If you want, zip the theme on your computer and post it on the forum, maybe someone can fix it for you.

While searching for Gimp 2.8 dark themes, 2 referenced in the gimpuser forum, which I have zipped and attached.

Not as plain as your theme, but maybe other forum users might find interesting.

A little video showing a better place to install themes in Win7,
C:\Users\'name'\.gimp-2.8\themes

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Go5tBPbPiik&hd=1

and a look at each theme.
I hope you can understand my British accent but alas my French is schooldays from 50 years ago. Not a viable option Smile

RE: Theme modified OK, but...
:o)) Very thanks for your patience.

Yes ; my "London Smoke" theme doesn't look as the original because I have already modified it.
I had found the colors too dark.
I had modified the color of the text and several other parameters.
Only one parameter resists : the progress-bar.
Despite many trials, I don't find how to do that.

Find below my theme "London-Smoke" modified.

best regards

RE: Theme modified OK, but...
Thanks for the two themes.
I like "acid" and, if I can't mofify "London Smoke", I'll try to adjust "acid" which is rather close to what I would like.

RE: Theme modified OK, but...
Bound to be a better way, but I replaced the progress bar section in gtkrc. Lines 2019 to 2043 + a couple of new png icons progressbar.png and progressbar-trough.png

Seems to work

no guarantees
