Text Removal From Background
Hello. This is probably the most simple thing to do but I've been at it for the last two hours and cannot figure it out. I created a text logo for my site. When I save the text it saves a white background too. Now I cant put that on my site with the background being there.I just want the text not the background.

Thank you.

Save the logo in a format that supports transparency. PNG is the preferred format for this those days.

Tried it and it worked. Thank you.
One more question as I am trying to learn about how to use GIMP. I noticed when I saved the text as .png that it was transparent when you opened it up but on the web page now the image seems to have extra space around it which is interfering with other elements. Is there a way to create the text on the canvas then shrink to fit the space around it to the text so you dont have that extra space around the text. Hope that makes sense. Sad

RE: Text Removal From Background
Layer/Autocrop followed by Image/Fit canvas to layers.

But this wouldn't be such a goo idea for text, since you always need some margin around it. As this margin depends on text characteristics (such as font size and shape), it's better kept with the image than reinstated by something external to it (your HTML).

Normally for text layers the ideal layer size is the one auto-determined by the Text tool when you enter the text. Unfortunately you can later alter the text and the size won't be changed, so your best bet is often a manual crop.
