Taskbar icon?
Hi, new to the forum though not really new to GIMP. I've tried it several times over the last few years and kept giving up on it as I couldn't make it work to my satisfaction. But now with a single window interface and a few other things, it seems finally like a really viable portable graphics editor for when I'm away from home and my installed PSP. Really glad as I've tried many portable or at least standalone solutions and nothing has ever come close to fitting the bill!

There are a few things to iron out, though, the first being the taskbar icon. In the GIMP I'm using, the taskbar shows an everchanging icon rather than the GIMP logo image. It's a miniaturized representation of the current image that is uppermost in the GIMP window. I need just the GIMP icon to show up instead. This other is a really neat innovation but it doesn't work for me. But how can we do this? GIMP is highly customizable so hoping it's a simple matter to change a setting somewhere.

Thanks. Appreciate any help in this regard. Smile

RE: Taskbar icon?
Can't be changed AFAIK, at least not from Gimp's side (possibly some advanced window/desktop manager maye have a way to override icons)

RE: Taskbar icon?
Dang, okay. Too bad. It really was a problem the other day when I had a bunch of windows open (pretty common for me; I really multi-task!). I'll keep looking for a solution. Since it's Portable GIMP and I'm working mostly off of a stick, it might be difficult to do a workaround, but we'll see.

Thanks! Smile

RE: Taskbar icon?
Me too...
It's really annoying the ever changing image. When lots of windows are open, and working (trying to) fast, I never find the gimp app.
Look at the facts:
- the little iconized image is messy, isn't recognizable
- it is always changing, since I open 5-10 images per session
- users have to search, where is gimp. Searching I mean break the current working line and find the gimp icon on taskbar. I don't have to search for opera, notepad++, if you know what I mean. They have a very distinct icon

There should be an option to switch off image iconizing on taskbar...

RE: Taskbar icon?
If you work in single-window mode (in 2.8) things could be different... there will be only one Gimp window after all.

RE: Taskbar icon?
I hate it to. In the meantime, I pin Gimp to my taskbar on the far left so I can always find it

With Single-Window Mode and the "Images" dockable dialog open, I no longer lose my open images or dialogs.
