Tablet behaves oddly, won't draw.
I have a Digipro WP5540 tablet with driver version 5.02 installed on Windows 7 using Gimp version 2.8.2. I can click and interact with all menus using tablet, the only exception is the actual drawing space. When I try to use any of the tools with the drawing space gimp won't do anything one might expect: It will sometimes switch whatever tool I am using to the move tool. If I hold the pen down (doesn't matter if I switch this action to left or right clicking, it behaves the same) it will cycle the cursor between the brush I selected, the move tool mouse icon (even though doesn't actually switch it to the move tool when this happens), and the the right click menu , which disappears if it continues to cycle, but can be clicked on. I suspect this has something to do with pressure. The cursor obtains a cancel sign occasionally and just do nothing sometimes instead of the weird cycling. If the mouse icon switches to the move tool, it will move if I move the mouse to the scroll bars, but won't move anywhere else. I have also found that if I hold down and move the pen vertically the brush's circle will appear at the top edge of the screen and move horizontally (this happens while the weird mouse icon/right click menu flashing happens). If I use the paths tool it will create paths while moving horizontally (It also isn't entirely horizontal, there is some vertical movement too). Gimp registers the tablet in the configure input devices preference menu, but not in the input controllers menu. It does not matter what Axes I use for X and Y, nor if I have the pressure axis enabled. It doesn't matter if I set the mode to screen or window, but what does work is if I set it to disabled, so then it doesn't register the tablet as such. That option means no pressure sensitivity, which almost defeats the point of my tablet. Many of the behaviors I have noted don't seem to be consistently reproducible, such as the current tool actually switching to the move tool or the brush's circle appearing on the edges of the screen. I know the tablet works since I have used it in at least two other pressure sensitive programs. It seems to me that Gimp is having trouble interpreting the information from the tablet, which seems odd considering I have read many other people having no trouble at all getting this model to work with Gimp.

RE: Tablet behaves oddly, won't draw.
just to let you know blue, it's not isolated. I've read your text and I have all the same problems, in the EXACT same way. I've had my tablet (genius mousepen M508w) work on an earlier version of gimp perfectly fine right after installing the drivers for my tablet. I'm using windows 7 64 bit with 2.8.2 as well. any help would be greatly appreciated, this isn't an isolated incident or a fluke. everything blueverto said is happening to me too.

EDIT: I uninstalled 2.8 and installed GIMP 2.4.7 and my pressure sensitivity works fine; I'm disappointed I can't use all the new features 2.8 offers. However, I'd prefer pressure to extra customization.

RE: Tablet behaves oddly, won't draw.
I just tried uninstalling 2.8.2 and installing 2.4.7, but still no pressure. Where as 2.8.2 has a third axis, it doesn't even register with 2.4.7.

RE: Tablet behaves oddly, won't draw.
I got pressure working with version 2.6.12! I am a little disappointed this means I won't be able to use layer groups, but I guess that is just the sacrifice I will have to make. Although it is a bit weird since it seems to apply the brush to the total monitor size of my two rather than the one I am working on.... That is okay since I can just switch to a single monitor.

Thank you for the suggestion of using an older version. I suppose I will just wait for another update to come out to see if the behavior corrects itself.
