Download both files. In Gimp, load your image, and in the Paths list, right click and "import path".

Thanks, Ofnuts!

I'm going to see about putting it in some sort of oval, so it looks better and can be used in more ways.

You may be interested to see what (mostly you) has been accomplished. Smile

RE: Suggestions for Improvement?
Okay, it took me a while to find it, but I learned how to draw an oval, put a border on it, AND rotate it.

Two problems:

Even if I lock both layers, the border and the oval, or only use 1 layer, rotate won't move both the oval and the border.
And I can't border after rotating.

Gradient doesn't work well with border. It thinks it's one large image, not a border - so it doesn't repeat the same pattern through the whole border.

Help appreciated.

Hmm. Works for me. Warning: rotating a layer with an active selection (even if that selection is the whole layer is not the same thing as rotating without any active selection). Can you repeat this on a sample image? Of so can you poste the XCF with the problem?

You can border after rotating. If you have your ellipse on a transparent layer, using "Layer/Transparency/Alpha to selection" on the ellipse layer will recreate a selection on the rotated ellipse.

In the general case, you can link a selection to the layer you are rotating. Save the selection to a channel ("Select/Save to Channel"). In the Channels dialog, there are also "link" checkboxes, so you can link the saved selection channel, the saved selection channel will rotate to match the rotated layer. You can then restore the selection from that. This also applies to paths...

Yes. I noticed that too. But my answer was to write my first Gimp script ever. It's here: http://gimp-wrapmap.sourceforge.net/
But it requires Python Smile

PS: For the be nefit of future users, it's best to split your concerns in specific threads. This question should have been two new threads, one about linked rotations, and one about gradients in borders.

I'll do that next time. I just didn't want to spam. Confused

Thanks for the help, and I'll look into Python.
