Question Stupid Font Mistake - Looking For a Hand
Long time Gimp user, first time posting here!

Hey guys, so I made a really stupid mistake after transferring to a new hard drive. I transferred my Gimp files without, first, backing up my font collection. Opening the files, the fonts still remain in their 'true' style from before the move (cached, at a guess) but obviously when I attempt to edit the text, the font isn't on my system so if I type anything, it defaults to a basic built-in Microsoft font. What I'm asking is, is there any way that I can find the name of the particular missing font from within Gimp (so I can download it again)? A log file maybe, because I imagine Gimp must have the fonts name stored somewhere in the file for it to attempt to load it. My guess is any information on the matter is encrypted and this is a complete lost cause but I decided it was worth checking if anyone here has any suggestions before I give up hope.

I'm embarrassed to have even made such a dumb transfer mistake, let alone forgetting the font name in the first place; I'm sorry to even have to ask for help with such a dumb issue on my behalf but any help will be greatly appreciated! Blush

RE: Stupid Font Mistake - Looking For a Hand
Ofnuts will be able to confirm this, but I believe his text-info-0.0.py script will display all the details of a text layer including the Font name.
It is towards the bottom of the list of scripts displayed...

Once you save it to your plugins folder in your Gimp user profile and restart Gimp, it has a menu entry found by right clicking on the layer in the Layers Dialog then choose 'Show text information' the results are written to the Error Console (Windows->Dockable Dialogs->Error Console)

That worked like a charm! Thanks a lot and thanks to Ofnuts for the actual script!
