Lightbulb Struggling BIG time...How do you insert lots of images into one document?
Somebody please help me!!!

I'm trying to get more than one image into a gimp document, resize them and print off on one page. Currently, I need six pictures, but the number will go up and down depending on what I'm doing. Mega simple answer please, I am a newbie and find these programs hard to grasp...Confused

Answer 1: if it's only to print pictures on a single page, there are much simpler utilities, including, if you are in windows, the built-in Image and Fax viewer.

Answer 2: if you ant a fancy layout or just use Gimp for this:

1) create a new image: the advanced options of the image creation dialog lets you set the physical print size and the definition (usually, 300PPI for decent print quality). You can adjust this size later.

2) load the images as layers: "File/Open as layers". Your individual pics wil load above each other. If you haven't got it up already, start the Layers list (Ctr-L)

3) resize each image using the Scale (Scale) tool (you can force it to preserve aspect ratio.

4) move images around the canvas using the Move (Move) tool

5) You can use various tools to help you align the images, such as the Align (Align) tools or the snap-on guides (click on scale at top or left, and drag in the canvas: this will create a vertical or horizontal guide)

6) save image as XCF so you can rework it later

7) Print

There is a script you can use 'images-grid-layout'
http://registry.gimp.org/node/2236

or if you use linux there is a stand-alone app 'mashup' (I was looking for 'printoxx' which I have installed but seems to have been renamed)
