Stroke a path using the pen with sharp corners?
Hi, I am trying to stroke a path in a vector image I am making, but I can't figure out how you are supposed to make sharp corners while stroking with the paintbrush. I know that if I just choose the "stroke line" option, any corners in the path will be sharp instead of rounded, but I need to stroke with the brush so that I can apply brush dynamics. Can you even do this?

^^this is what happens with the brush

^^This is what I need to happen, but with brush dynamics

why is stroking paths so dang hard Sad

Maybe this link will help, it could have something to do with the metering limit.

3.18 Stroke Path
http://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-path-stroke.html

1. First pick the paths tool Path
2. draw your path, then go to Edit > Stroke Path...
3. Last, expand the "Line Style" option & adjust the options seen in the link above.

If it was easy Gimp would cost $1000 Wink

It would help if you gave some idea of the brush dynamics properties and type of brush you intend to use.

I don't think it is possible using the paint tool with brush dynamics to get those sharp corners.

The easiest solution might be a bit of judicious faking-in with the eraser tool in straight lines.

A better solution might be Inkscape, it will open a Gimp svg path. It would be possible to apply a colour or gradient, maybe some sort of surface effect and have sharp corners as the plain Gimp stroke path. Then export as a png & back to Gimp.

Best I could do using Gimp and brush dynamics, Had to break the path up into elements. Then apply a taper. However not the same as a sharp corner.

An honourable mention for an old script (2008), again it is just a taper, but I still find it comes in useful. http://registry.gimp.org/node/9867
Does not really pick up the dynamics very well but good fun.
