Stitch borders!
i have scoured the internet to find the answer and i cannot.

Just like the user in this Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbDA3XinISs

i am trying to do this in gIMP. The closest i can get is checking angle/direction in the dynamic editor but it doesn't quite look right at all. Almost, but no. It is almost like the lines are lagging or slow to pick up on my mouses direction? If that makes any sense. i want it to look exactly like that video or if you don't want to watch it, a treasure map effect.

i have attached a sample of what i am getting in gIMP when i try.

thanks.

RE: Stitch borders!
I have been playing around with this for the last 1/2 hour and I can't get anything better than your attempt.

I think you will have to resort to a path and stroking the path.

http://imgur.com/Chl89f8 you need to open up the line style for options.

You can make a Gimp brush hose , a gih brush that will track up/right/left/down mouse movements, but that is all, still not in line with the brush stroke.

They are correct billybag, you can do it in Gimp, but you need to adjust the right settings and how the mouse/stylus works + spacing.

Being the mad scientist I am, I love a challenge so I did some research, and found out bout the spacing on the new brush. Your mouse/stylus can control the angle once you turn it on.

BAM! Probably around the same time as rich, maybe a little longer Blush

Important things:
- You need to make a new brush & dynamic to edit.
- *You have to line up your mouse / stylus at the start of your stroke/trail, it won't be perfect at the start, but stay consistent in your drawing and you will get decent results ^_^
- Take note of the settings in the picture, that's how i got it to look like that.

-- (optional) if you want hard edges, use the "Pencil" Pencil tool instead of the "brush"

Edit: This gives me an idea for a good video tutorial (since making a new brush & dynamic maybe not as straightforward) I'll keep you posted billybag & PM or link you on here to the video when I get it done(later in the week.)

RE: Stitch borders!
Awesome! Thanks a bunch!

i still couldnt get it to work. The only angles the brush will do are straight horizontal, straight vertical, and straight diagonal (45 degrees) There is never ever an in-between for me and i still can't get it to do it. With your settings and method described.

EDIT: Ok now without changing anything, i literally just wrote the above and went back to trying, it is even more stranger. It is doing in-betweens (kind of, still woudn't call it dynamic) but no more straight up and down or side to side....

I didn't have to adjust the angle setting for my technique, through dynamics you can have it adjust automatically

And.... the video is live, Hope you can find it useful Smile Happy 2014 billybag!
