Spiky lines
Hey everyboy,
This is my first post here. Is there any way to turn a straight line in to a spiky line? If so can you control thickness and length of the spikes? also can you curve the spikes to one side? Like grass or Barts hair.

Thanks in advance,

Bobby

A manual way would be to click Freeselect free select tool, click the points in a zig zag lines to form a circle or half circle.
- Practice making an M first, it has 9 clicks for a complete shape.
- Complete the selection by clicking the first point you made or pressing enter.
(don't drag, or the line becomes curvy, uneven, click the points)

Edit > Stroke selection
()Stroke Line
...()Solid Color
[v]Antialiasing
Line Width (to control the thickness of the line)

Then click stroke & it will be like the image below, the white dashes is the selection, do "Select > None" to clear it after.

Well not that but maybe an Gimp animated brush might work.
This one, very quick, should have more layers and some detail.
Greyscale image with one 'spike' per layer. Export as something.gih to the brushes folder ../gimp-2.8/brushes (remember to refresh the brushes)

Then just use as a brush, since it is greyscale it picks up the foreground colour.
Apply one of the brush dynamics for more variations.
