[SOLVED] Can I do this with channels?
Now the idea isn't to Invert Colors which would make the blue pink and then change tones and lighting to make it orangelike, I wanna know if this could be done with Channels because there is a way in Photoshop, so you dont have to play with changing color tones every time you decide to do such texture.

In Photoshop: 'What you have to do is go to "channels". Go to channels and copy the red channel into the alpha channel (if the texture doesn't have an alpha channel then make one), Then fill the red channel with pure white Now fill the blue channel with pure black.' OR simply: •Copy the red channel and paste it into alpha. - How to do in GIMP?

I want to make the same effect in GIMP using channels as I dont use Photoshop. I see you can select Channel and if you turn red channel white, the blue channel black it changes colors but it's nowhere near the above image. So does anyone know hwo to do it?

RE: Can I do this with channels?
To turn a color channel to pure white or pure black:
- use the "Levels" tool
- select the color channel you want to change.
- in the output levels: drag the left handle to the right for "allwhite", and the right handle to the left for "all black"

To transfer a color channel to the alpha channel of layer:
- In the channels Dialog, duplicate the color channel you want to use
- Add a "layer mask" to the layer, and initialize it with that duplicated color channel

How to do this pls which menu option is that. Should i 1stly change channels or this transparent>I already duplicated the channel red

In the main image window: Layer > Mask >Add layer mask
In the Layers dialog: right-click on layer, "Add layer mask..."

The channels you can init the mask with are those showing in the Channels dialog, except the first 4 (R,G,B,A) (hence the need for duplication).

Btw, when you duplicate a color channel you are duplicating the color channel of what you see (i.e. composite image of all visible layers), not a color channel of the active layer (unless that's the onlu one visible). So beware...

RE: A
Something different occurs when I play with GIMP layers, channels, the texture doesn't become like normal at all, just changes colors to yellowish and red.

Maybe I didn't quite get what you want to do from your explanation... either give a URL to the PS tutorial or show the "before" and "after" instances of the same image...

RE: Can I do this with channels?
Wow I found out how on a wiki. It explained how to do it with Photoshop and how with GIMP. With GIMP just add alpha, decompose (into layers), copypasta red layer onto alpha, fill red with pure white, fill blue with pure black, recompose, tadaam orange tint of the Normal blue and done. Thanks for trying to help though.
