Simple Text Along Path Question
I'm having trouble figuring out how to edit some text. I know how to create curved text by using the ellipse selection tool, selection to path, creating text, text along path, filling text with color and adding edge effect using stroke path. My problem is I can't figure out how to accomplish the same thing if I want my text in a straight line! Any help would be great! Thanks!

RE: Simple Text Along Path Question
If the line is horizontal, just take the output of the text tool. If you want to do things with the outline you can use "text to path" in the layer's right click menu.

Otherwise, you options are:

1) use a path that is a straight line, very easy to do with the path editor, and do as before

2) obtains the path from the text ("text to path" in the layer's right click menu) and rotate the path with the rotate tool in "Path" mode:

Then bucket-fill/stroke as before.
