Shortcut menurc file
I recently tried the newer 2.7 Partha version of GIMP and I really like it, but too many of my keyboard shortcuts have changed!

Instead of changing each shortcut one by one, is it possible to just transfer my old menurc from ver. 2.6 to 2.7? I actually tried this but nothing seemed to change. Maybe I put it in the wrong folder?

RE: Shortcut menurc file
It should go somewhere in your Gimp profile. However I wouldn't recommend that, they likely added some more shortcuts in 2.7 and you would lose them. Better check out the differences between the two, but if you are proficient with a text editor, this may still be faster and more complete that reentering the shortcuts via the UI.

RE: Shortcut menurc file
I agree with above that a *good* look is required

But might be worth a try, it is the menurc file in your personal .gimp-2.x folder. Just make sure you back up the existing one first.

AFAIK the file structure is not changed except for the first line so for example the old one is
; gimp-2.6 GtkAccelMap rc-file -*- scheme -*-
; this file is an automated accelerator map dump
;
....snip...
; (gtk_accel_path "<Actions>/view/view-shrink-wrap" "<Control>e")

and the new one
; gimp-2.7.exe GtkAccelMap rc-file -*- scheme -*-
; this file is an automated accelerator map dump
;
.....snip....
; (gtk_accel_path "<Actions>/view/view-shrink-wrap" "<Primary>j")

You might have to change that first line in the header.

That example is the one that catches me out, getting used to shift-control-j instead of control-e for shrink wrap. Control-e now brings up the export file dialog which is probably a more sensible shortcut but s-c-j is really clumsy, it has become a two handed shortcut.

RE: Shortcut menurc file
Well, I did use Notepad+ to look at the files, but I think I found an easier way to change them by using "dynamic keyboard shorcut" in the preferences.

When the menu item is highlighted, I just type in my older, more familiar hotkey and the GIMP remembers it.

Also, it seems that I have to use the menurc in the "Users" folder area--I was looking at the menurc in the instalation folder.
