Question Several Questions
My first question is where to install the gimp help package. I downloaded it, but I have no idea where it goes... I am using the latest stable version of gimp.

I am also wondering where to put the GAP.

Lastly, is there a way to make an effect just like the "Glowing Hot" effect, but with diffrent colors? (eg. blue).

Thanks!

RE: Several Questions
Dunno. I sort of expect it to either find the Gimp package and install there, or put up a variable somewhere to tell Gimp where it is.

Better ask the GAP authors... the Gimp plugins normally either go in lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins under the Gimp installation directory (install for all users) or in your own Gimp profile if you are the only to use it (on Linux: /home/{yourid}/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins, on Windows, likely under: C:\Documents and Settings\{yourid}\.gimp-2.6\plug-ins).

Certainly Smile I would check the Gimp plug-in registry to see if there is an equivalent plugin that takes the color as a parameter.

RE: Several Questions
I tried to follow the directions, but it didn't work...
Or maybe I'm doing it wrong.

So it goes into the plug-ins folder?

Alright, I'll take a look.
But is there a way to manually do it? Or no?

Thanks!

RE: Several Questions
Well, as for the changing colors of the glowing hot, since when it finishes it keeps the layers, select the color layer and colorize it, to any color of the rainbow.

RE: Several Questions
Sorry for not answering sooner, but it seems mly ISP's antispam filters ate several notifications from Gimpforums.

I installed the help using the Windows installer (gimp-help-2-2.6.0-en-setup.exe), and everything went fine, the files got installed inside the existing Gimp installation directory:

C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\help\en

Note that the "en" at the end tells Gimp that the help is in English, if the UI is in another language it may not find the help for that language.

You also have to open the "Preferences" dialog, and, in the "Help system" section, make sure that it says it is using the locally installed copy

RE: Several Questions
Thanks!

You made my day.

Also, I figured out how to change the effect....I went into the "scripts" file and edited the script, and it worked!

Such scripts should be using the foreground color in the palette, or ask for a specific color in their startup dialog. Glad you solved your problem.
