Semi-transparency of floating selection
Hi people
I want to make the grid lines I'm putting on a map semi-transparent, so I consulted Chapter 7 of the user manual and tried to find an 'opacity slider' in the Layers dialog. I suppose the "dialog" is the pull-down menu? Of course it ain't there.
Hmmm. I thought this was the latest user manual! (Gimp 2.6)

I tried the online help system (Gimp Documentation) and it sent me to Google, which just sat there and awaited a query. Huh?

How can I proceed, please?

RE: Semi-transparency of floating selection
The Layers Dialog can be opened from the Image menu by going to Windows > Dockable Dialogs > Layers or by using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl - L. This will open a dialog box that shows a list of all the layers in your image. Select the one you want to adjust, and use the Opacity slider at the top of the dialog box.

RE: Semi-transparency of floating selection
Hi there Virago
Thank you very much for this help. I see I still have much to learn on Gimp, and that Gimp is capable of things I hadn't known of.
I wish you a happy and fulfilling day.
