Script-Fu help to do set of tasks
Hello,

I'm fairly new to Script-Fu, which is to say really new. What I'd like to do is have a "Macro" that would execute the following on each image (*.jpg) that's open in GIMP (might be 15-20 of them):

Resize image to 1440 x 1080

Enlarge canvas to 1920 x 1080

Center image on that enlarged canvas

Add black layer the same size as the canvas

Move image on top of that new black layer

Overwrite the *.jpg files that's open (setting at 100% quality, otherwise default export settings)

Close without saving (I don't need a GIMP file format version)

Then do these same steps to all other open images.

Thanks,
Frank

RE: Script-Fu help to do set of tasks
I'm going to have to go the Python route, as I'm working on a company computer where I don't have administrator rights to add software. I just tried to download the imagemagick and the corporate firewall blocked it.

Any pointers to good "starting from nothing" tutorials on writing in Python for GIMP?

Thanks,
Frank

(*) If you want to go the Gimp script route, using Python instead of Scheme is easier, will let you do more things in the long run and your python skills can be used in a lot of places outside of Gimp.

RE: Script-Fu help to do set of tasks
Looks awfully like 'piller-ing' for a video to me Wink

Gimp might not be the most appropriate application but it can be done, and quite easily with the BIMP plugin. Although not for open images they have to be saved, the same requirement as for ImageMagick.

Very similar to a recent post, can not remember which, so easier to make a little video on use.

edit: having a tidy up - everyone finished with this ...going..going..gone

RE: Script-Fu help to do set of tasks
Gimp (version 2.8.4) is one of the approved programs users can load from a software center. The other one mentioned is not however. As for Python-Fu, yes, that is available on the filters menu.

I have to do this task every two weeks, with 20 plus slides each time, so a script to do it autoamatically would be great.

Thanks,
Frank

What version of Gimp have you got? Do you have a "python-fu" entry in the "Filters" menu?
