Scale Tool
I've been using the Scale tool to transform a path. Whenever I use it, however, it moves the path around on the layer as I am scaling it. I can eventually get the path scaled to where I want it, but it's just a pain in the ass having to drag on corner, move the path, drag another corner and repeat. Does it always do this? Does every GIMP user have to do this? Is there a simpler way to do this?

RE: Scale Tool
It's a usability problem that has about as many solutions as users :-) When you scale, there is only one single point that will remain fixed. In Gimp it's usually the top left corner. Future versions will also support scaling around the center (like you can do for rectangle and ellipse select, for instance) but I'm not convinced this helps much (it only adds a 2nd choice among the several thousands possible). IMHO the best solution would be to be able to designate the scaling center as you already can do for rotations. But then you would have to find where you want this center, and you would find that in many cases you wouldn't not know where to put it (especially for paths since it would likely not be on the path itself).

At least, for paths, successive uses of scaling and rotation do not result in image loss like they would on a bitmap.

Hello, that would be extremely useful for me right now, it looks like it's not yet possible in gimp 2.8.2, is there some development version where a thing of this sort has been experimentally implemented?

thank you

RE: Scale Tool
None I know of... You can try to grab the WIP source from github and compile it but you'll be totally on your own and I don't even know if it"s implemented yet. Doable if you are on Linux, much harder for other platforms.
