Save a quickmask/channel for use on another pic
I'd like to save a quickmask (or channel/path) that can be applied to multiple other pics. I'm in need of a mask so I can color the same parts of a texture file (dds) for various colors and on 3 or 4 different texture files.

I understand a quickmask/channel/path are all related, but is there a way to transfer this mask to other pics?

I gave up trying to stumble across the answer by experimentation and have saved

To save to file:
  • save your selection to a channel,
  • select it in the Channels list (if not already)
  • File/Save: you get a warning that you are saving a channel, and that's exactly what you want to do. PNG is a good format for this.

To reload:
  • File/open as layers the saved file, the new layer should be on top and be the only thing visible.
  • Open Channels list
  • On any of the color channels, right-click and "Channel to selection"
  • Discard/hide the loaded layer

Hmm, may have been too quick on this post. Could this be a related way to do this?

Yes, it's related... once you have loaded the mask as a layer, you grab one of the color channels and duplicate it (so it becomes a non-color channel). Then when you create a layer mask, you can initialize it with a channel and you can pick that duplicated channel (you can't use the color channels directly for this...)

Been a bit quick too, there may be a slightly simpler way for selection, see other thread.

Damn I didn't thank you for the advice, could have swore I posted a reply. But thank you, it's working great and has saved me a lot of repetitive work.
