Rotating without moving object
I'm trying to create a series of sphere images that are to be used as an animation, whereas in my case I have a transparent background layer and a layer containing a sphere. Then I want to add a 15 degree rotation for each new image. The problem is that every time I select the rotate tool and click on the image to enter the value, the sphere is moved slighty.

Why is this? Am I doing it wrong?

The problem is the way Gimp chooses a rotation centre, it may fall on a half-pixel at times (but I cannot tell why a 400x400 layer has a rotation centre at (200.5,200.5) and a 402 layer is a (201,201). You can adjust the rotation center by dragging it, or by entering coordinates in the floating dialog.

Yeah, this sounds like it could be the problem, but I don't get it. In my case I have an image that is 256*256, and when I select the rotate tool and click the image, the rotation centre is in fact 128,128, which to me sounds like it should be in the dead center.
