Rotate Tool - Overlapping Text

Rotate Tool.

SO difficult to see the text change and determine if it is at the right angle when the original text is still there.
How can I only display the new "Rotating Text" without the "Original Position" text.

Please and thankyou for help.

RE: Rotate Tool - Overlapping Text
Click on the image/layer once with the Rotate rotate tool,

Then before you rotate it, click and drag the (+) crosshair in the middle to any corver of the box (bounding box) (SEE IMAGE BELOW)

THen you can rotate it. Also, click/set the Guides: [v] to "No guides" for more visibility.

This makes it easier to see the angle. To my knowledge, the original shadow is a defect of the rotate & scale tool (for scale tool, click the (+)crosshair and drag it away from the original position before you scale if there is room)

RE: Rotate Tool - Overlapping Text
Dont overlook the obvious,

Reduce the opacity of the text layer during the rotate operation, restore at the end

Yes this helps thankyou.
Yes I had Center lines but No lines is even better thankyou.

ofnuts
Corrective (Backward) or Unchecking Show Image Preview only hides the NEWLY TYPED TEXT and that is the text I want to see.. and only see. I need to only hide the original Text.

rich2005
Yes.... thankyou very much rich2005.
Lower the Opacity of original text, then restore at end. That is best method.
Would be easier if there was a checkbox/radioButton to hide Original Text, but the opacity method is great.

This was the image I was changing text on with the rotate tool.
And these images are directed to all of you iForStyle007, ofnuts, rich2005.

RE: Rotate Tool - Overlapping Text
^_^ Appreciate it Barbie, it looks awesome! your most welcome. Helping others with Gimp issues isn't an easy job, but if in the end we can help even a few fellow Gimpers, that at least makes my week Smile

Last, there is in a sense a radio button you can turn on off instead of opacity.

First click the rotate tool, click what you want to rotate (don't click ok yet)
-Then go to your layers window and click the eye icon on the left side of the layer to turn it off (temporarely) After you rotate it, turn it back on. Cheers Smile
