Reproducing an effect
Hello, I'm new to gimp.

I'm trying to reproduce the effect in an old Windows background (attached). Does anyone know how to do this?

I've looked through many tutorials, but guides for creating water ripples are the only things I could find.

Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

RE: Reproducing an effect
I'm no expert but the IWarp filter might might help to give the ripple effect. As for the shades of blue, if I were doing it I'd give the blend tool a go, that usually throws up some good effects.
It might be worth trying two different layers with the shades of blue and then run the IWarp filter to see what happens. I'm always experimenting and am often surprised by the results.
