Removing a person or item from a picture.
I've been working on this for at least a week now. Ends up, I was misunderstand the manual even though I speak 3 languages.
I had all the steps but in the wrong order. Now I've got it.

Maybe this will help some newbie (like myself).

TO CUT OUT A PIECE OF A PICTURE USING GIMP
File – Open picture.
Click on layer containing opened picture.
Right click below layer to get option: “Add Alpha Channel”
Select Lasso, Fuzzy Select, Scissors or Pick by Color.
Once selection is complete....
Enter
Select – Invert
Edit – Clear
Edit – Copy
Paste as New Image
Save as *.PDN
