Remove transparent background
Hi. I created an image with a transparent background, but once exported to .png the background is always visible as in this picture, where you see a transparent square that surrounds the sphere: http://s30.postimg.org/jwdlc9wkd/trasp.png

How can I delete this?
Here you can find the .xcf file: http://www.unitscan.org/logo.xcf

Hi Asmita.

The .xcf file you have attached is not the same image as you posted.
There is no background and text "Draw Item" in the xcf.
When I export the image in the xcf to a .png there is no 'transparent square'.
So the question I would ask is what steps/software did you use to create the image you posted? I suspect the issue lies there.
Smile

RE: Remove transparent background
This image is created with gimp of course. There is no background and "DrawItem" text in the .xcf because the background is the desktop's wallpaper and "DrawItem" is the name of the .png file Smile (is a screenshot from the desktop): don't you see the square surrounding the sphere?

RE: Remove transparent background
No, in Windows it displays fine.
Try opening the file in another tool that display .png files.
Must be just the way your OS or the software is displaying the edges of the image.

Yes. It displays fine!
Have you tried displaying the image using another application/program?

Well, if the image is designed for use as your desktop wallpaper...
Adjust the canvas size to be the same resolution as your screen size.
Center your sphere on the canvas.
Export as .png again.

RE: Remove transparent background
If you put an image file on your desktop Windows will create an icon to display it and will add a shadow to make it look solid, but it only sees your image as being square so adds a square shadow.

What are you trying to achieve? If you are trying to make an icon for an application then you will need to make a .ico file, then associate that icon file with the application. See this recent discussion we had about .ico files: http://gimpforums.com/thread-why-does-my...-distorted
