Remove Date Stamp

I downloaded an older version of GIMP because a newer version would not work with the Heal Selection option.

It worked a couple of times and then the next day that Heal Selection does no appear.

I'm not sure what's going on.

It's a great tool to remove a date stamp or anything you want removed from a photo and then it automatically camouflages the background where that content was removed making it appear like nothing was ever there but the background filled in.

Has anyone had experience with Heal Selection?

Thank you.

RE: Remove Date Stamp
Can you duplicate your issue?
Does the icon for Heal selection appear?

Are there any active selections? try "Select > None"

If those don't work, try this checklist:

then try the below

What are your "Tool Options" set to when you pick the Heal Selection tool? (post a screenshot if possible, or type)
Aspect Ratio:
Other "[]" options further down, after "+Dynanic Otions..."

Clone stamp tool does almost the same thing, but there is little to no blending, You can blend with the smudge tool.
