recently used tab
I am doing a process which means that I have to repeat filters and it's a slow process to keep opening the filters tab, then the recently used tab, then the filter.

I was wondering if there is a way to load the 'recently used' up onto the main tool bar so that it would be possible to go straight to it.
Specifications: Ubuntu Unity3D

Or maybe drag the 'recently used' to a separate tool bar of it's own?

RE: recently used tab
Ctrl-Shift-F reopens the most recently used filter (Ctrl-F re-runs it without even showing the parameters dialog).

Hi Ofnuts, yes got that works good but I an cycling between three or four filters in different sequences.
A 'keyboard shortcut' to recently used would do it but I can't see a way to allocate a key.
Anyway thanks for that. love the neon!

RE: recently used tab
Your best bet is to script that. Not that difficult (since you're using Ubuntu I assume you're a bit less afraid by computers that most).

For the neon, you'll find the script there: http://gimp-path-tools.sourceforge.net/ and some more python scripts that can get you started... see you in the "Plugins" section of this forum Smile

RE: recently used tab
There are two other ways to make what you want to do easier. The first is by using a tear-off menu. Once you've used at least one filter (otherwise there is no recently used menu), right click on your image. This should bring up a window that is basically a copy of the menu bar. In this window go to Filters > Recently Used. In the fly-out for the list of recently used filters you should see a dotted line at the very top. Click on this dotted line and the sub-menu becomes a floating window which you can position anywhere you like. As you use more filters the window will update and continue to show the list of your most recently used filters.

The second way would be to assign a keyboard shortcut directly to the filters you most commonly use. From the image menu go to Edit > Preferences. On the left side of the Preferences dialog click on "Interface". Now look for the check box labeled "Use Dynamic Keyboard Shortcuts" and check it. If you want the shortcuts to be remembered on your next session as well, make sure "Save Keyboard shortcuts on exit" is also enabled. Click on OK to close the window. Now go to your first filter. Don't click on it, just hover the mouse on it so that it is highlighted and then type a sequence on the keyboard. They recommend using ctrl-alt sequences for user assigned shortcuts. So you could set your favorite filters to ctrl-alt-1, ctrl-alt-2, etc.

The thing to be careful of with this last method is that anytime you have a menu open, accidentally typing any key will set it as a shortcut. I would recommend setting the shortcuts on the menu items you want, then going back to the Preferences dialog > Interface and clicking the button "Save Keyboard shortcuts now", then disabling dynamic shortcuts.

RE: recently used tab
Many thanks Ofnuts, Virago, loads there for me to tweak. I just found 'tear off' on another thread though it has a bug associated with it, maybe it's sorted now.

Also plugin 'Makeshortcut' that looks interesting as it's heading towards making a separate menu. Haven't done much with Python scripting yet, maybe sometime.

Also thanks for the links.
