Q: Generating a hex grid with uniquely colored hexes
Not sure if this is a newbie question, but here goes.

I'd like to generate a hex map of a given size. (18,720 x 11,520 pixels, with hexes around 150 px in diameter.) Each of these hexes should be of unique color. (I have a list of the RGB values.) As there will be thousands of hexes, coloring all them separately would take quite some time.

However, I was wondering if there's a way to avoid doing all the dirty work by hand. Is there a way to automatize GIMP (or any other free, easy-to-use program) to allocate these colors in order so that the first hex, beginning from top left corner, gains RGB value #1, hex below it RGB value #2, and so on?

While I have some experience using GIMP, I've got no idea how I could accomplish this, so any help and/or suggestions are welcome!
