Problems with making desktop wallpaper
Hello everyone! Thank you for such an awesome forum!

My question is what is the best method to take 2-3 pictures from the internet and combine them together to make an image 1920x 1080 wide for desktop backgrounds? These are the steps I am following below and what I am having problems with.

1. I go to "canvas size" and make it 1920x 1080.
2. I then move in an image. I right click on it and click "Scale Image" so I can resize it to 1080 height and 960 width so I have room to add one more picture. The problem is when I click on the image in the dialog box it has the original pixel dimensions of the background 1920x1080 even though obviously it is a lot less then that. Look at the attached picture. I already chose the desktop to be those dimensions but when I right click on the picture it still gives the desktop dimensions even though when you look at the ruler it is a lot smaller.

So how do I do this? Thank you!

How do you recommend working with the different images? For example, if I have 3 images do I just create 3 layers? When I put them all in one layer it won't let me move the images independently.

RE: Problems with making desktop wallpaper
Hi again. I am having problems now with pasting the photos into the same window, I am trying to put them all side by side to make the collage. If you look at the image the photo doesn't appear in the grey checkerboard area but only when I move it over the other picture.

I made the canvas size 1920 x 1080 and am trying to line them all up.

Also, I edited all the different photos in different tabs, is that the best way to do it or should I have had them all in one tab but one layer for each photo?

Thank you!

RE: Problems with making desktop wallpaper
Thank you for all the great advice you have been giving me. Here is the finished project! Please give me your opinions on how I did and if you have any advice on how to streamline.

I actually opened up each image in different tabs (the tabs that are above the main drawing area) which maybe made it a little bit harder.

I edited 25 different photos into the same dimensions (384 x 216 for a 1920 x 1080). That took a while because I had to do each one individually. Is there a way to do a mass edit? Would they all have to be in different layers in the same image instead of different image tabs.

I then had to copy and paste into different layers into the same image and then had to slowly move and line them all up.

Thanks again for advice! Excited to hear your opinion!

RE: Problems with making desktop wallpaper
That is such an excellent idea! That will make my life so much easier.

1. Download all images to separate layers
2. crop images to same size and dimensions.
3. The do the rest that you say.

Thanks again!
