Problem with downloading GIMP
When I try to download GIMP it says that GIMP can not be installed cannot be installed over my current GIMP program.

I undownloaded GIMP ages ago and I tried another folder. Still the same results.

Please reply.

RE: Problem with downloading GIMP
Try a fresh/clean uninstall of gimp.

1. Uninstall Gimp
2. get ccleaner & run the scan for the main screen.
3. run its registry cleaner & be careful to select/check *ONLY* the gimp folder entries it finds.
4. Backup when prompted, then "Fix all selected issues"
5. Install the latest gimp

reason for that
I found the extension ".xcf" using the registry cleaner.

So I thought it's a good precaution to check the registry for any stray gimp entries.
when you install & delete folders, no matter if their self contained, the installer puts those folders into an index, the registry(in windows.)

I've done registry scans after deleting setup.exe files from my download folder & it found entries of those deleted files, so even downloading some files can add them to the registry.

With portable app versions, maybe not, as they load the files into the temp folder.

Got it from the official site.

If you haven't already, try the latest version 2.8.10 from gimp orgs ftp:
http://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v2.8/window...-setup.exe

Then if doesn't work,(clean uninstall) and try "gimp-2.8.8-setup.exe"
ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v2.8/windows/

If that doesn't work try here, I've been able to get older versions here.

*They don't have the latest, but they have stable 2.8.6(IMO) and earlier (2.6)
