Problem learning the Clone and Healing Tools
I've been working on a picture, where I changed the the color of a persons shirt. Around the hair and other places things need to be smoothed out and blended in. After watching this Video called How to use GIMP 2.8 for beginners | free photo program! I decided that one of these tools will probably fix what I need to fix. The only problem I'm having is the mere fact I do everything that the Video tells me... Press the Ctrl key and Left Click. It looks like after that He just drags around. But for me nothing happens! I even watched some other Videos and they told me to do the same thing and still nothing happens. What am I missing?

No worries, A common mistake gimp newbies make that can easily be remedied, aslo a somewhat new error the teacher makes (not being specific enough)

One of two things:

1.
To define your source to copy/clone from by pressing cntrl + left-click AT THE SAME TIME, once. Then left-click & drag around to draw from source.

=Redefining clone source point=
When you want to reset to the start of your source, let go of the click. To redefine the source: do the "ctrl" at the same time "left-click" once thing.

2.
You might not be getting the source from the correct layer.
Look in your layer windows dialogue box (right-side) and make sure the image you want to clone is higlighted before you define (ctrl-click) the source.

RE: Problem learning the Clone and Healing Tools
In addition to the post above,
The heal tool does a better job of blending the surrounding pixels, its like clone on steroids(where clone makes a solid hard copy/edge unless you chose a soft edge brush)

Can you crop a small part(1/4 to 2/4 of photo) of the shirt colorized & affected hair area?

Then maybe we can recommend a better method / tool / filter.
