RE: plugin help
For the source code I have found, this happens if you don't provide a directory name (top line in the parameters dialog).

RE: plugin help
Had a look at that one, I do not think it is going to work without a re-write.

In a win7 VM / Gimp 2.8.10 the export-as-swf dialog will not take a value for the base directory without crashing.
Try and enter a full path into the file name and it tries to export to (say) [none]/C:/project/new.swf and of course fails.

Alternatives, as a video enthusiast, shockwave is a horrible format but LibreOffice Impress will export to a swf, put one image per slide.

Better tools for slideshows,
the gran'daddy of them all DVDslideshowGUI http://download.videohelp.com/tin2tin/
and this is a favourite http://www.photofilmstrip.org/

Edit: Or maybe not, maybe you are looking for an animation in swf format rather than a gif.

RE: plugin help
Is this the plugin you are using?
http://my.opera.com/area42/blog/flash-sw...t-for-gimp
Opera closed this user facility down and you need to go to the Internet Archive http://archive.org/web/ to view it.

Note the bit at the bottom. Support for Gimp on Windows coming later.

I suspect later never came. Tried it in linux and it seems to work there, so that is one option.
Another option. SWFtools is a collection of small command line applications. You could make your animation using one of these.
Maybe png2swf or jpeg2swf

You could always try and email the plugin author, there is an address at the top of the plug-in.

RE: plugin help
OK not the above plugin

I did find ExportSWFE.py and it is another old script from 2009. This time it is for windows but that age, for Gimp 2.6.

Again try and contact the author, email is at the top of the script.

RE: plugin help
This python script is working on my Win 7 x64bit system using Gimp 2.8.6. and the swfc.exe from swftools-0.9.0.exe
Maybe the problem is data dependent.
Can you screenshot the Export SWF dialog showing the values you are using.
That may shed further light on the issue...

That is good news, in the mean time, I had to go back a Gimp version. One way, if nothing else works.

Caveate Only tried this in a Win 7 32 bit VM but it should work in Win 7 64 bit.

install
python-2.6.6.msi
pygtk-all-in-one-2.24.0.win32-py2.6.msi
gimp-2.6.11-i686-setup-1.exe - use customize and make sure python is enabled.
swftools-2013-04-09-1007.exe

run Gimp 2 (the 2.6 one) to create the 2.6 profile .\gimp-2.6
add the ExportSWFE.py plug-in to .\gimp-2.6\plugins folder
as per the instructions copy swfc.exe to \Program Files\Gimp-2.0\bin folder

and it does work

@sephis If you want to go down that route and want help with those installation files let me know.
