Question picture files....?
What is the best type of pic file to use for a gif?
Should it be png,jpg....help.

Do you mean a .gif animation?

I think, individual images in png format, but since an animation consists of layers you need to do all your editing and saving as a Gimp xcf file. Only at the very end export to an animated .gif
