Photoshop 'Select similar'?
Have black rastered text (not a text layer!) on gradient background. I want red text on same background. I select background, adding as necessary. In Photoshop I would now do 'Select similar' (which automatically selects non-contiguous pixels in the same color range, including those in the interior of 'a's and 'e's which are numerous and tiny) and then invert and fill with red. Is there something I can do in GIMP to get the interior backgrounds automatically?

RE: Photoshop 'Select similar'?
I do not know what the PS tool does but

Many of the Gimp tools use the same mode in the tool options

The default is usually Replace. Toggle the Add mode (or hold the shift key down) to add to the selection.
