Passing an ImageLayer to another graphics program:
Greets,
I am having a problem with copying a transparent layer
and then Pasting it from the clipBoard
to any graphic program (irfanview and WebPlusX4).

The Transparent layer contains a cloudBrush graphic.
The foreground color is white,
and bg color is black.

When I paste it into webPlus, it shows up as ALL white.
Then I change the pasted image as Transparent with white a bg.
The ALL white disappears.
And so does the cloud image.

How come I can't see the image?
What must I do in Gimp to be able to pass the imageLayer
via clipBoard.

Thanks...vmars316

Can't help much, I use Linux, and the only decent image editor I have on the Windows I can try things on is Gimp (pasting images with a transparent component in Paint doesn't work, but then my version of Paint won't load properly a PNG with transparent pixels either).

A transparent image normally has no background (or, putting it differently, its background color is "transparent", not white).

What happens in Webplus stays in Webplus.

If you can't see the image, how come you can comment on it?
  • Make sure your layer support transparency: Layer/Transparency/Add alpha channel (igf it's greyed, it's already done
  • Places where the layer is transparent should show as a checkerboard pattern

You also ave the option to save you image in PNG format and re-open it in the other software.
