Painting Tutorial - 2D/3D Integration
In this tutorial I go over how I integrate 3D elements into a 2D concept/illustration.

Video Tutorial

1. Create a sketch of the design.
2. Create a simple model of the design, using the sketch as reference.
3. Use the render of the model as a multiply layer and paint in your design on a layer below, this ensures the lighting and form is maintained and lets you focus on the design. It also does all the perspective work for you.

Initial sketch in Gimp.

Simple model with the most important areas blocked in.

Render (basic, just lighting) of the model imported into Gimp and set to multiply.

Paint layer below, this is where the text, plates, designs, windows or anything else goes that wasn't modeled in the second step goes.
